FALL CLEAN UP FOR BORO RESIDENTS WILL BEGIN OCTOBER 23, AND CONTINUE UNTIL NOVEMBER 6,. BAGGED LEAVES AND NATURALLY FALLEN BUNDLED BRANCHES THAT CAN BE HANDLED BY ONE PERSON WILL BE PICKED UP BY BORO EMPLOYEES WHEN PUT BY THE CURBSIDE.
NOTE: ONLY ITEMS LISTED ABOVE WILL BE PICKED UP AND ONLY WHEN LEFT AT CURBSIDE. THIS IS FOR LAWN DEBRIS ONLY, NOT CUT DOWN TREES, GARDEN CLEAN OUT, ETC.
Free Winter Coats
The Crossroads Church is again offering free winter coats in adult, children and infant sizes on Saturdays thru December 7th from 9am til 1pm at the Church on on the Austinville Road. Everyone is welcome.
Area Veterans are invited to "Veterans Appreciation Days" at Larry's Sports Center in Galeton on Friday & Saturday November 8th & 9th. Free Lunch will be available and Representatives from D.A.V. will be on hand to answer any questions. Larry's will present each Veteran with an appreciation gift.
Kenzie's Kause will be held Saturday November 9th from 8am until about 6pm at the Wyalusing Boro Park in Wyalusing, PA. There will be a softball tournament, 50/50 raffle, bake sale, basket raffle, BBQ chicken, face painting, and more.
Election Day Buffet Turkey Dinner on Tuesday, November 5 at Niles Valley United Methodist Church. Located at 10991 Route 287 – 6 miles north of Wellsboro. $7. Serving 1130 AM until 7 PM. Take outs available at no extra charge. Full turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, squash, stuffing, applesauce, coleslaw, cranberry sauce and salad, sweet breads, rolls, pickles, dessert, drink and more. Complete dinner, desert and drink - $7.00
The South Creek Lions Club will host their "Annual Harvest Dinner" on Saturday November 9th at 4:30pm at the Lions Hall Route 14 in Gillett. The Menu includes Roast Beef & Ham, Potatoes, Squash, Vegetables, Baked Beans, Home Baked Bread and Pies. The cost is $9.00 per person. Take outs are available. This dinner supports Lions Projects in the Community.
Craft Fair & Bake Sale
The Friedens Lutheran Church in Liberty will be holding a Craft Fair & Bake Sale on Saturday November 9th from 9am until 2p. Lunch will be available. This event Benefits the mission and disaster funds.
USED BOOK SALE
A Used Book Sale is scheduled for Saturday, November 9th , from 10am until 2pm at the Towanda Public Library located on 104 Main Street. Hardbacks $1.00, Softbacks $0.50. Benefits the Towanda Public Library.
The Troy Little Leagure will be holding a Spring Baseball & Softball meeting & registration for Parents on Wednesday November 13th at the Troy Memorial Auditorium on King Street. Registration for 2014 is $30.00 for more information call 570-529-0852
The "Sons Of The American Legion" from Post 49 in Troy, Pennsylvania is holding their fall dance on Saturday November 16th from 8pm-midnight at the Vets Club in Troy. This event is open to the public. Cost is $10.00 per person. "Sounds by Shane" will provide the music. Snacks provided.
The Canton area Cub Scouts Pack #3 in conjunction with VFW Lodge #714 and the American Legion Post #303 of Canton will be hosting a community American Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday, November 16 from 12 noon to 1pm at the Canton War Memorial Pool Pavilion in honor of Veterans Day. The ceremony is an official retirement of colors ceremony complete with a bugler. Music will be provided by individual members of the Troy and Canton school bands. The community is asked to bring any old, ripped, soiled or otherwise tainted flags to this ceremony for proper retirement of our country’s official colors. Our local cub scouts and boy scouts are sponsored by the Canton Moose Family Center #429.
Swiss Steak Dinner
The Athens United Methodist Church will be holding a Swiss Steak Dinner at the church 118 S. Main Street, Athens, PA, Tuesday, November 19, from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm. Menu: roasted turkey, mashed potatoes,green beans, cole slaw, rolls, and homemade desserts. Adults: $8.00, Children 6-12, $5.00, Children 5 and under, free. No pre-sales, Take-out available Tickets available at the door
The next meeting of the New York Penn Fireman’s Association will be held Thursday November 21st at the Coopers Plains Fire Department located on NYS Route 415. The meeting begins at 8pm with refreshments to follow.
Come Hear the Balladeer of the Southern Tier, Pat Kane, performing Christmas and Irish music. Enjoy an evening of singing, dancing & food. All proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters serving Bradford, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties in PA and Tioga County in NY. The event will be held December 6, 2013 from 6 to 9 PM at Sons of Italy, 301 Desmond Street, Sayre PA. Advanced sale tickets are $10 Children's tickets (age 10 and under) are $5. Ticket price includes admission & one trip to Hors d’oeuvre table.
